00:00:00.03 nextlevelguypodcast Sit. Thank you so much for coming on the show. It is an absolute joy to have somebody who I've been following on social media. It does sound a bit dodgy when I say that, but how do you introduce yourself? 00:00:11.76 Caleb wat Hey, ah I'm just Caleb, man. Bye. I like to ah to spread somewhat of a positive message to the best of my ability in a world that seems to be kind of... surrounded by a bunch of negativity so i'm an online fitness coach i'm a father um And I'm a believer in Christ. So that's. 00:00:29.99 Caleb wat That's about about the gist of who I am. 00:00:32.74 nextlevelguypodcast um Well... I really wanted to have you on because... you know Everybody wants to die when they're happy, old, surrounded by you know like loved ones. But we don't always get that. And some people have really bad luck. And I think this is the thing is people struggle. They always think they can do it. 00:00:49.49 nextlevelguypodcast but their discipline goes out the window when they're hit by hard luck. And you've had some really hard luck, but you've come back with a smile on your face. You've made discipline. You've made it look good almost. 00:01:00.58 nextlevelguypodcast You're a great example of a man who's made resilience part of his identity. not just something when it's bad. bad's happening. Would you agree with that? 00:01:10.40 Caleb wat I think so. um or For the most part. I mean, I like to preface that there's nothing you know extraordinary about me or special about me in any way, shape or form. I just think that maybe I've spent a lot more of my time looking at some of the negative things as opportunities. and um you know when When bad stuff does happen, you have a couple options. It's either you're going to lay down and and... you know, kind of sob in the idea of what could be or you can take it as a a really 00:01:39.33 Caleb wat uh inspiring moment you know something that's super humbling and you can find the little things that you don't particularly like about yourself and start to change them. So I just see it as a way that I can look through a different lens. and um and correct Correct one of my many flaws, you know. 00:01:55.40 nextlevelguypodcast Yeah, well, you're married, so you should know your flaws by now. you know it's ah 00:01:59.37 Caleb wat Quite a bit of them 00:02:00.19 nextlevelguypodcast Yep. I've got my sisters married, and I'm sure that's her full-time job at the minute, it telling my brother-in-law. 00:02:04.70 Caleb wat Oh no. I'm not. 00:02:07.85 nextlevelguypodcast And Sam. 00:02:07.99 Caleb wat Uh-uh. 00:02:09.12 nextlevelguypodcast Well... 00:02:09.35 Caleb wat No, no, i'm I'm divorced. 00:02:10.25 nextlevelguypodcast It's... 00:02:10.94 Caleb wat I'm not married. 00:02:12.16 nextlevelguypodcast Well, my a sister, that's what they seem to do a great habit of. you know they They can tell you where you're going wrong, women. That's the beauty of it. 00:02:19.69 Caleb wat Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, but um let that be clear, though. 00:02:19.80 nextlevelguypodcast but 00:02:23.08 Caleb wat I'm not married at all. Uh, I'm i've been divorced so but but you are correct on that when you are in a marriage depending on how that how that looks you will definitely know everything that's wrong with you for sure 00:02:35.97 nextlevelguypodcast So you said there about turning sort of. you know, like the threats into opportunities. and um Is that something that you do? I mean, what did you do when you were told that the cancer had returned? Because most people that would have just been an identity crumbler. 00:02:50.90 nextlevelguypodcast But you kind of just looked at that as a reason to relearn yourself, to change your identity into the Caleb you wanted to be. How on earth did you do that? 00:03:00.44 Caleb wat I was already doing that kind of before. the The first time I got cancer was I was pretty ignorant about it all. I didn't really care. And I kind of, to be honest with you, seen it as an opportunity, like an easy way out. 00:03:11.29 Caleb wat Um, You know, some people will probably resonate with that, others won't, but um I've seen it as a way that I've done a lot of things in my life. Um, and somehow or another I've made it through, but I kind of looked at cancer as a thing that's like, cool, man. Like, you know, I could, I could potentially check all the boxes, take care of the people that I care about, you know, and, um, and kind of end this whole deal. 00:03:32.47 Caleb wat uh without it being my fault you know so uh i think a lot of people say that too a lot of people also like well if i had cancer i would just give up and then somewhere you know three or four months into treatment when you start losing a bunch of weight and you're feeling terrible I kind of just found another gear. 00:03:51.07 Caleb wat Um, and was like, there's something I should probably be taking away from this. So when you kind of get everything stripped from you, I believe it's a... I think it's it's probably one of the best positions you can be in. like I'm very fortunate to be in it one time, let alone multiple times, because I didn't figure out all the things the first go around. I was still drinking. I was still angry and and depressed. and ah 00:04:15.06 Caleb wat when i got into remission i honestly like i didn't ring the bell i didn't do any of that shit i just went on about my business Celebrated I had them take the port out while I was still awake so I could go drink afterwards and I did just that. ah continued working building power lines the whole time so my life didn't really change um when they told me i had cancer i didn't think much of it when they told me i was remission i didn't think much of it was just one of those people that kind of felt. 00:04:41.08 Caleb wat I deserved whatever I was getting. ah The second time, though, I was already starting to get sober. um and when i got it again i was like man i i put down the alcohol which i thought That was a big reason as to why. I still do think so. I was drinking very heavily and I had a lot of trauma. I was very depressed. So I felt like I was almost manifesting a sickness. my my body was kind of telling me i needed to to wake up a little bit so 00:05:07.15 Caleb wat When I got it the second time, I was already on the right. right path so i felt even more motivated because i knew more than the first time you know cancer is really scary when you have it once right it's like because you don't know it it's a it's a different kind of beast and then when you get it again and then again you learn a little bit more about that disease ah So i've I've had more confidence every time, you know. 00:05:30.77 nextlevelguypodcast So do you see that in... part of your identity like dying off or were you looking at what you could become you know big because you've said there about like... losing you know and there were different versions of you that were changing. 00:05:46.53 nextlevelguypodcast Was there something that while you were rebuilding your body? but You changed the way that the car you saw yourself. What happened to country? 00:05:53.84 Caleb wat um I think... I think when I when i started ah proving that i I was capable of... of change i proved that i could stop you know drinking or i could stop all these vices i But the the hardest part, honestly, wasn't even the cancer, I don't think. I think it was when I did get sober. 00:06:11.44 Caleb wat And I had to look at myself. ah like fully you know and revisit some of those things that i've been suppressing for a long time That. That was probably... 00:06:22.36 Caleb wat Not probably, that was definitely harder than... then going through treatment. ah It's... own when you When you don't have to, we you know, we're so gifted, man. We have so many things going right that it's very, very easy to ignore some of the major flaws, right? 00:06:37.68 Caleb wat And when when the body goes to shit and then the energy goes to shit and you're just left with kind of sitting in your own thoughts, you have a really cool opportunity. 00:06:38.05 nextlevelguypodcast Mm hmm. 00:06:47.51 Caleb wat to make some changes, but you have to. You have to essentially do it. Isolated like you can't really involve a lot of people with that because it's you And you don't want to take their their their thoughts about the situation or their feelings in accountability because you're never going to be able to actually fix. 00:07:04.58 Caleb wat anything you have going on because you're worried about them so you've got to separate yourself from it and that's That's what I did. 00:07:11.91 nextlevelguypodcast Because you've said on your Instagram about how you... The hardest part was sitting alone with your thoughts. And that scares the crap out of a lot of guys. And cancers or long-term illnesses is one of the few times people actually stop and have a look at themselves, where they are in life and how they treat people, etc. 00:07:31.18 Caleb wat and 00:07:31.41 nextlevelguypodcast And you've said there that was like the hardest part for you. What helped you during that phase? you know Were you journaling? Were you talking to people? 00:07:37.57 Caleb wat Oh yeah. i i So I journal. 00:07:41.04 Caleb wat i journal all the time i always have i've always you know written poetry or or jotted down my thoughts or anything i've i've always done that instagram's helped me a lot with that because i can put it out there and uh and almost kind of remind myself like i can scroll through my instagram and remember what i was feeling when i did that like i don't i don't schedule reels i don't do any of that i make them with whatever i'm feeling and that in that time so i do them daily and whatever thought is you know the most dominant in my brain. 00:08:10.75 Caleb wat ah Journaling definitely helps, but... you the problem is is that the journaling becomes repetitive and it's the same issue but there's no solution so people people journal in my opinion the wrong way they write down what's on their brain but they don't write down any plan they don't write down how you're going to change that narrative they just write down the same shit like i didn't like when my stepdad beat me or you know my dad was on drugs and that affected me emotionally but there's nothing 00:08:38.52 Caleb wat There's no forgiveness. There's nothing implemented, no strategy to fix the anger you have or to do anything else. You're just writing down your feelings and to be. quite honest i mean we're not We're not 8th grade girls. You know what I'm saying? Writing down your feelings isn't enough. like you need you need to You need to establish a plan. You need to show yourself in small actions that you can do certain things. 00:09:00.38 Caleb wat and that needs to be the repetition so if it's fitness which is normally the first thing You need to show up long enough to eat the good food and then you'd be surprised how much that clears your brain If it's getting sober, you need to show yourself you can be sober long enough to see the changes that are made. 00:09:15.45 Caleb wat And when you do sit in those thoughts, you have to you have to sit on them. And you know it's okay to be sad. It's okay to be depressed. It's okay. to feel all those things but if you allow yourself to feel them just just that you know there's there's no balance i mean you're not going to make any progress like that 00:09:34.49 nextlevelguypodcast And was there an issue then when people, you know, they would sort of give you the identity of, oh, he's got cancer. So they expected you to be just sitting back and not doing things. But you decided that by taking action, it allowed you to change. Is that where men struggle? we wallow in it whereas you are actually saying take action to change 00:09:55.12 Caleb wat Yeah, well, I mean, think about it, man. yeah I'm sure you've been through some things in your life, and it's so easy to think about something bad or have something bad happen, and then you can just travel down this rabbit hole of misery. 00:10:06.57 Caleb wat It's very easy for us to do that. But on the other side, if something good happens, it's like blatantly good, it's very hard for you to go back in the memory bank and and pick out a few things to to keep that positivity going, right? 00:10:19.12 nextlevelguypodcast F1. 00:10:18.75 Caleb wat You experience it in the moment, and then you know it's going to end, so you don't revisit it. But when it comes to depression and anxiety, man, we revisit it all the time. It's... and but we're also surrounded by it look at every at every movie and tv show the depressed guy ends up at the bar and he's drinking and then the other things it's the you know the the backlash and all this extra stuff i mean we're we're convinced that that's supposed to be normal and it's not 00:10:45.52 nextlevelguypodcast So what was that first step like? Because, you know, when you look at your like Instagram reels, you look like you're a model coming out there, you know, like you you make it. 00:10:51.15 Caleb wat Mhm. 00:10:53.39 Caleb wat Hey, thanks. 00:10:54.41 nextlevelguypodcast You've got this amazing physique, you've got this amazing style, but you also have a sense of purpose, of happiness. 00:10:55.05 Caleb wat Hmm. 00:11:01.60 nextlevelguypodcast what What is it? 00:11:01.92 Caleb wat Mmm. 00:11:02.85 nextlevelguypodcast that you started because you said today about the good food and the fitness and that take me back to that first kind of actions what what were the sort of step-by-step things or was it just literally a case of i need to feed my body i need to work out so like How did you get into these habits? 00:11:20.44 Caleb wat So i've man I've been a mixed martial artist my whole life. I've been in a fitness my whole life. I've always competed in different things. So that was... um That would that's never changed like I was never a super obese guy and when I was bigger I was I was strength training, you know, it was for strongman competitions or whatever so fitness has always been a thing since I was in the military and even before then but 00:11:39.22 nextlevelguypodcast Yeah. 00:11:44.27 Caleb wat um I would say that 00:11:47.81 Caleb wat when When you put certain things down, you're able to pick up really good habits. And a lot of people will look at fitness as you know a form of therapy, and it's it's not. 00:11:58.90 Caleb wat um at all. like if if If you're using the gym and you're using these things as therapy, you need to go see a therapist. like It's good to clear your mind. It's good to go and and and do the things, but this is just a show, man. It has nothing to do with the person that I am inside. This shows you that. 00:12:14.93 Caleb wat i'm reliable and i'm consistent it shows you that i've been motivated a time or two in my life it shows you that i'm disciplined but it doesn't show why it doesn't show how because all that's the internal work that that's the part of realizing that at some point of your life you're the bank robber and you've made terrible decisions you've hurt a lot of people 00:12:33.91 Caleb wat and And a lot of the issues in your life, you have to take some accountability for. Like you you have to know that. Some of that is your fault, you know, um even if it was done to you. 00:12:45.48 Caleb wat You know, there's there's cases where absolutely You had no control, you know when you're a kid and you're going through hard times or god forbid You know a child gets molested or or something like that. That's not that child's fault you know and and the lack of understanding is is what makes it so hard because you're a child When you're an adult and you're making these bad decisions, there is no more excuse to that. 00:13:02.89 nextlevelguypodcast No. 00:13:06.92 Caleb wat there there is There is no more misunderstanding. You've lived life long enough to where it's like you can relate it to things. You can avoid certain situations. And believe it or not, you know what makes you miserable. You know if going home makes you anxious and sad. and you know That home isn't really a home. you know If your job doesn't bring you any purpose and you hate it, um you continue showing up to it and not wanting to make any changes. That's that's a personal decision as an adult. 00:13:33.44 Caleb wat But we can't harbor all these things forever and and and just that be the reason why we are how we are. You have an opportunity to change that narrative anytime you want. 00:13:43.35 nextlevelguypodcast Because a big thing I noticed in going through your sort of social media, your web page, et cetera, was... It's not just the phenomenal fitness transformation. It's the mental transformation. You know, you are you're very open about your past struggles, about your addictions and things, your upbringing, et cetera. 00:14:01.26 nextlevelguypodcast How did you start giving yourself forgiveness? Because a lot of men use the gym, like you said, to hide. to to kind of avoid speaking or, you know, pushing out the emotion sort of thing. 00:14:13.24 nextlevelguypodcast How did you learn to forgive yourself so you could put down the habits and pick up the good ones? 00:14:20.08 Caleb wat Hmm. I think... I think it's ah that's a layered thing. I don't believe you start off by forgiving yourself. I think the the number one step is is recognizing that you you are. some of these bad things and these bad traits that you probably don't like in other people 00:14:36.44 Caleb wat You know what I mean? Like the things that you look at somebody and you're like, ah man, I would I would just hate to be like that. You probably have more of those traits than what you'd like to to believe. And and we're really good at convincing ourselves and others that we are. 00:14:50.75 Caleb wat all the good things and and you're not. So you recognize that. you're not that great you know you recognize that you're just a ah dude or or you know, someone that's tried and failed and then when you continue to try. 00:15:07.66 Caleb wat but you try and ah with a different angle. you're going to get a slightly different result. So. The physical body part is is literally just showing that. on repetition that you can reach x y and z You but you have to work the mentality side of it because if you don't create the patterns you're gonna go you're gonna become out of shape again i mean you can get in shape for a season but what about all the other ones 00:15:32.11 Caleb wat You know, so so yeah, I mean, the the physical body is is a great business card. I mean, it it shows that you somewhat know what you're talking about. but If you're not able to spread some sort of a message about 00:15:45.91 Caleb wat You know the the hard times, you know, everybody on social media shows them driving a Ferrari it's like what about when you had an s10 or you were riding a bicycle like that for me, is more motivating than anything else. So that's the part that I like to talk about is like, yeah, man, um it may look a certain way now. 00:16:04.16 Caleb wat But I was wearing the same dirt that you're wearing, you know, I we it was the same exact thing We may have been dressed a little different, you know, but Nobody can understand the hardships and that someone's gone through off of social media because They're looking at the present right they're looking at somebody talking about something as it seems that they haven't figured out But. 00:16:26.80 Caleb wat The important part is that I don't. I don't have it figured out. I'm figuring it out. I don't know if that journey will end ever. I hope that it doesn't because at that point, I'll kind of stop growing as a person. 00:16:37.69 Caleb wat But. You. If you want to start getting... You know position yourself to where you can grow as a person then you the easiest one is physically But once you get to a point physically... 00:16:50.35 Caleb wat You need to look in the mirror a little bit deeper and and and start changing. the man in the mirror that you're looking at. 00:16:56.09 nextlevelguypodcast I really respect that answer because when I first started, I would listen to podcasts about self-improvement and they'd be... Yeah, you just do this, this, and this, and then we'll let go. I'm not at that stage that I could even consider getting to that stamp. 00:17:10.56 Caleb wat Yeah. he yeah 00:17:10.69 nextlevelguypodcast And I'd be sitting there going. How do I go to the gym? How do I speak to the basics? And that's why I think you you your stuff's really good, is you show people just... Start from scratch. Start from here. Start from there. 00:17:23.24 Caleb wat So so the the basics are this, right? you You're supposed to be a kind, loving person with the ability to perform violence if needed. 00:17:33.99 Caleb wat That's what your job is as a man. You're supposed to be humble and kind to the best of your abilities. The way that you practice that is... taking the time to compliment a stranger or helping somebody with something for no other reason than just to help them. 00:17:48.29 Caleb wat if you If you see something on Instagram and you have the ability, you have a service to provide for somebody and it can help them, you should offer that service, not for money, but because it was put on your heart to help that person. 00:18:00.50 Caleb wat if we focus so much on on the high ticket items of what we can acquire from doing something then that's not really out of the kindness of your heart that's greed and greed does not get rewarded so there's there has to be a balance you know if you make x amount of dollars doing your you know like me my coaching program okay I can afford to help a few people for free. 00:18:22.27 Caleb wat That shouldn't be an argument. That should be something that when I feel it on my heart to help some somebody, I just help them. if you If you spend more time servicing other people, you'd be shocked how much it services you. 00:18:34.90 Caleb wat it's no different with fitness you may not you may not know how to work out but if you know one exercise that some stranger doesn't know just because you don't have the confidence to approach them you have to understand that person is probably in the same place you are and they may just be looking for a conversation so if you see somebody messing up doing a bench press and you just know a little bit more than them be like hey you know I... 00:18:34.74 nextlevelguypodcast I love that. 00:18:53.11 Caleb wat i watched this video or i had a coach and he told me like try this and i've i've never gotten to try it with somebody you know maybe you try it and then you spot me doing it well now you've now you've started communication which is the thing that The world lacks now. you know that's yeah It's amazing to look at. 00:19:09.28 Caleb wat at the world as it sits because apparently everybody hates everybody. It's like but nobody's talking to anybody How are you supposed to show that there's not that much hate if you're not ready to express some form of love for no reason? 00:19:23.71 nextlevelguypodcast and Was that like the the the kind of first promise you kept to yourself? when you sort of became this new version of yourself that you thought, right, everything I go into, I am going to offer service to others. 00:19:35.85 nextlevelguypodcast I'm going to offer love to others. 00:19:37.05 Caleb wat Hmm. 00:19:38.03 nextlevelguypodcast I'm gonna push myself into this. 00:19:38.51 Caleb wat Yep. Yeah, I i literally. Started with. um trying not to be angry. was and it's something i still struggle with i mean i still struggle with getting 00:19:53.29 Caleb wat uh aggressive and angry and i have to remind myself that i was able to do those things at a time in my life and it was very necessary for to me me to be violent and aggressive and angry and it probably saved me in a lot of different ways but this is a different season of my life and it's not required. I still have the ability, but. and and and i believe it's a gift from god to be able to do that but it's a gift from god when you needed to use it it's up to you to continue to use that tool for the wrong job 00:20:20.28 Caleb wat so now you know with what i've built on the internet and the things that i've done for myself and working on myself it's it's my job to have the conversations with people It's my job to tell you that it's going to be all right because I know it will. 00:20:34.15 nextlevelguypodcast I mean, one of the things I always wanted you to push back on you, like when I was reading your stuff, was you always seem to blame yourself. um it's that level Does that help you in a way, do you think? Because I do it, but I blame myself. and Late. self-destruct a lot of ways Do you use that as a sort of... energy to then push yourself on does it become healthy in a way 00:20:57.69 Caleb wat Well, so if you blame yourself without a plan to fix it. Right. then then no, it's detrimental to your health. But if you recognize your flaws, there's there's there is no man in the world that has worked on himself and improved that is going to be accepted less by people. 00:21:15.71 Caleb wat You may be accepted less by the people you have in your life, but they probably weren't there for a good reason anyways. 00:21:21.32 nextlevelguypodcast Hmm. 00:21:21.25 Caleb wat So we we imagine losing these relationships as we change as a negative thing. For me, it was you had a relationship with a version of myself I wasn't particularly proud of. So yeah, no, i own I own all the things. I know a lot of the stuff I've done in my life is was me. 00:21:39.67 Caleb wat It wasn't. It wasn't anyone else. It was me. and And maybe how I handled it and took in the information from them, how they reacted was based off the energy that I was carrying to the conversation. 00:21:51.76 Caleb wat You know, if you're expecting a fight. The chances of you getting a fight are pretty high 00:21:56.76 nextlevelguypodcast Because there's times in your stuff that I was like... You know, it's almost like I want to give you a hug, you know, just say. It's not your fault. you you know Yes, you might have done some bad stuff in the past, but you're a great guy now. But it also seems like you use this as this kind of fuel to then go on your mission to help others. and I love that. 00:22:17.24 nextlevelguypodcast Respect that. but it also kind of scares me in a way because I can see it myself. 00:22:21.06 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:22:22.02 nextlevelguypodcast And I really like that idea of using it as a service to other people. Whereas I'm... 00:22:26.35 Caleb wat Well, that's it. how do you How do you relate to people, you know? It's like you just said about the podcast you listen to. You have to do this, this, and this. And those guys are in a nice suit and they're not talking about when they were... 00:22:38.56 Caleb wat domestically abusing their wife. They're not talking about neglecting their children. They're not talking about any of their bad qualities. They're not doing that. They want you to look at them like they have all the answers. My goal is simple. I don't have all the answers. I'm just teaching a certain amount of curriculum and I'm providing that information of things that I've been through and you need to relate to me. 00:22:59.00 Caleb wat You're not going to relate to me with how how great everything is if you're in a dark place. And my goal isn't to help the person that has it all figured out. I don't relate to that person so my goal is is to help the person that's broken and says that there is no hope or the guy that's like i've tried everything but i can't be in shape and then here i am i have cancer all the time and i'm dealing with all these things and i'm still in shape so if i can there's There's no reason why you can't. 00:23:25.96 nextlevelguypodcast I really respect that because... so many people use the the negative event in their life as an excuse to spiral to self-destruct 00:23:35.24 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:23:35.34 nextlevelguypodcast you know it's the it's the end of it whereas you're using it now to go forward but What was that first session like? Was it like you said earlier, just to start building the habits? It didn't matter about the result, just turn up. do some stuff. build build these into consistency and make it a discipline you know what was that first session back like it came out Because a lot of men go to the gym once. and then they never go again. 00:23:58.30 nextlevelguypodcast how how did you know you were doing this while your energy was getting sapped during treatment How did you build that into... She has to daily hover. 00:24:08.72 Caleb wat Well, so so look look at it look at it at a medical standpoint. And we'll just simplify it for anybody that... feels like you need motivation is a very, that's a very temporary thing. It can get you started in something and then it can help you push through like a hard season, but you can't. you can't maintain motivation for this long extended period of time because it's something that gets you excited in the moment so you're overweight you're depressed you're like i'm gonna change my life the motivating factor got you into the door 00:24:37.04 Caleb wat you had your first workout you realize that it sucked you're not really a fan of you know eating certain things you still like to drink So that motivation isn't going to carry over the bad habits because you've been doing those for years and years and years. 00:24:49.11 Caleb wat You know? But having a checklist and understanding that muscle is currency. Muscle mass is currency. it you can be the richest man in the world but when you don't move your body you don't eat right you don't take care of yourself when we're both 70 years old you wish that you could pay for my health and i'm the one that's been through more more health issues But it's because I continue to move. 00:25:10.77 Caleb wat So look at look at fitness completely separate for a second and just say that this this is no different. Then when you use the bathroom making sure that you use toilet paper or when you hop in the shower making sure you use soap After you eat food and you're about to go to bed, you brush your teeth. 00:25:27.55 Caleb wat Why? Because there's gonna be consequences for you not doing those things. When you don't move and your body is designed to do so and you fill it full of crap and you rely on your on your own filtering system through your lymphatic system and your adrenal glands and your you think that your body is just so strong and powerful because you feel good, you have to understand that you only feel good in relation to what you felt. If you've never truly felt great, you have no idea. 00:25:52.77 Caleb wat You just feel good enough. So if you want to live a long life, you have to do these things. Now we have iPhones, we have computers, we have all this toxic stuff that keeps us sitting in a certain place. Our jobs are from home. like Everything is is different. Everything is designed to make life easier, but it's making the... the job set easier. 00:26:14.84 Caleb wat your entire life is is now paused in certain areas to where you're no longer moving how you should. You're not doing these things. So yeah, man, the check engine light's going to come on. I mean, you're going to get warnings and you're going to be pre-diabetic and until you pay attention to it. 00:26:30.55 Caleb wat you're you're going to be full-fledged diabetic. I mean, you're until you pay attention to inflammation and know that you can only poison yourself for so long. before something bad happens. 00:26:42.67 Caleb wat You can only drink so much alcohol before something bad happens. right? So fitness should just be ah this as important as you breathing air and drinking water. It's something that's mandatory. 00:26:54.47 Caleb wat If you stop moving the joints, the joints are gonna stop moving. when you want them to. That's just simplicity. 00:27:01.75 nextlevelguypodcast a great answer because i think it was tom morrison when i was discussing like fitness with him he was saying you know the debt collector will come And if you haven't built up... 00:27:09.71 Caleb wat Yes. 00:27:12.14 nextlevelguypodcast enough to give them. you're fit you will be screwed later in life and it really hit home that Do you think that muscle equals currency is the is it a guiding light for your... like that most men need to adopt is that we always think All per me. 00:27:29.30 nextlevelguypodcast Take drinks. Oh, I need to go out there. I'm more going to order a date online. Food to the door. 00:27:34.78 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:27:34.61 nextlevelguypodcast We've just forgotten how to move in general. 00:27:37.65 Caleb wat I think... I think we've lost the ability to be animalistic. And that's scary. we've we've We've lost the true meaning of being a man which we've labeled as toxic masculinity and a bunch of other things and it's being misconstrued. there's a balance to everything you should be loving kind and nurturing you should also be able to handle a threat at any moment at the end of the day if If you're not training to fight, and that's in anything, 00:28:04.22 Caleb wat then you're not going to be good at fighting. Right. like if If you're not training to be strong, you're not going to be strong. I don't i don't understand how these people have this false sense of security like because they have a certain level of testosterone that they can do the things that are necessary. that need to be done. You you have to do this. This is your job as a man. It's your job to be this way. 00:28:26.80 Caleb wat So. You're. If you get a diagnosis of of cancer... If you're not... physically capable if you're not mentally sound dude if you're if you're not in a position where muscle is important and your endurance and and you have those tools, you are not going to fight as good as me. 00:28:45.42 Caleb wat It's not going to happen. Because in the off seasons, I spend my time preparing for whatever that war looks like. So I am prepared for that. If it comes in a sickness, if it comes to ah a burglar, if it comes to whatever it comes to, I'm i'm putting myself in a position for success. 00:29:02.10 Caleb wat And in turn, I recognize those things and my mentality goes up. Now it's like okay. I've got the physical body down now. We start really working the mentality What is a threat? It's not an egotistical conversation on the side of the road. That's not a threat. 00:29:17.82 Caleb wat butt muscle 100 is currency in any aspect of your life if you want to be better at your job get in better shape Because most people don't even believe the shit that's coming out of their own mouth So if you can't be disciplined enough to take care of the one body you have, 00:29:32.88 Caleb wat the one The one thing that you are given. You can't even take care of that. How would I trust you with my business? How do I trust you with anything else? like you You have to be disciplined enough to take care of the one car that you're given to drive around forever. 00:29:47.49 nextlevelguypodcast that one is a real that'll make the show i think Do you think that, because you trial a lot of things, you know, you do the red light treatments, you do the saunas, the sunlight treatments. um you know you do more holistic rather than medical sort of How did that? 00:30:04.94 nextlevelguypodcast like because this is probably more about a two-part how did that mentality have been open to try and all these different things help but also how... What did you find out about yourself? 00:30:16.60 nextlevelguypodcast during this, you know, what what do we truly need? to be healthy. 00:30:22.05 Caleb wat um So I'll tell you what, I think we're going to find out in the next years to come that the hippies probably have it more figured out than we'd like to admit. you know when they said go stand out in the sun and don't use sunscreen and they said take your shoes off walk around the grass right like 00:30:30.50 nextlevelguypodcast Yep. 00:30:37.28 Caleb wat There's a lot of truth to that now. ah With that being said... You can do all the red light therapy in the world you can do the cold plunging you can do the saunas you can you can take the turmeric and the ivermectin and you can do all these things. 00:30:51.59 Caleb wat it If you're not... following it up with proper diet and nutrition if you haven't created the environment to succeed. All that is is just adding extra shit in your body that it has no idea what to do with. 00:31:04.73 Caleb wat So, you know for me, yeah, red light is great. Cold plunge is is is proven for brown fats. It's great. But you know what cold plunge is great for is is doing something that's uncomfortable and controlled. 00:31:17.42 Caleb wat And to be honest with you, I educate people on the benefits of it, but that's the reason that's the reason why I do it. It's uncomfortable. i don't I don't like cold water. I don't like it every time I get in it, but I sit in there and each time it gets a little bit easier because I know what to expect. And then that's its own little repetition. And you can do these things at home. if you like drinking coffee every single day pick a day that you don't If you're used to drinking and Friday night is your night, how about you skip this Friday and just show that you have a little bit of control? 00:31:45.07 Caleb wat If you're taking hot showers every day, pick a couple days where you're not allowed to use hot water. It doesn't mean don't shower. It means that the temperature is going to change. You can implement these small things. and And it'll make a huge, huge difference in your life. So none of none of these holistic approaches are going to be good unless you unless you pair them with all the other things. You're eating right, man. You're drinking enough water. You're moving your body. 00:32:09.14 Caleb wat none of that stuff is going to matter. 00:32:12.89 nextlevelguypodcast So when you... 00:32:13.11 Caleb wat But it's proven. 00:32:15.33 nextlevelguypodcast so when these things start changing and you start feeling good and you're improving Then you get the diagnosis that you're clear or the person gets the job, or they you know they meet another girl, or whatever it is in their particular version of it. 00:32:31.42 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:32:31.52 nextlevelguypodcast how How do we make, you know, when the media pressures ended? 00:32:35.67 Caleb wat Hm? 00:32:35.50 nextlevelguypodcast And you're back to... baseline, say. How do we keep that discipline then? Because you've made this part of for your identity, you know but you've built this up from when you were younger. 00:32:46.98 nextlevelguypodcast For somebody who's maybe listening going, yeah, that's good, but... i was a fat wee kid and i didn't do any of this and how do i follow caleb into this journey how do we use this discipline or how do we but Is it like you're saying just the little repetitions build? 00:33:03.19 Caleb wat Yeah, so here's the deal, okay? Nobody has to work out five times a week. no no Nobody has to do that. That's not the point. The point is moving. So, and when someone goes through something like say me, and then I get into remission, but I've made all these changes. I've done all these things. 00:33:17.82 Caleb wat that are better for me. psychologically, spiritually, mentally, all these things. have have made me a better human. all around. Why? Why would I stop doing them? 00:33:31.06 Caleb wat If that's the thing that got me into remission, if that's the thing that helped me be healthier, why would I ever stop doing them? So it's ah it's a very simple answer. The things that make you better will continue to make you better as long as you keep doing them. 00:33:45.70 Caleb wat The problem is when you feel like you're good enough. Like you have no room to grow or or be better that that's just that that is the largest poison in the world, dude I'll take cancer every single day of my life over acting like i'm I'm too good to be to improve. 00:34:04.17 Caleb wat I'd much rather have that. 00:34:07.06 nextlevelguypodcast Because you've you've got an Instagram post where you say about your old self coming back and that's the struggle. 00:34:12.69 Caleb wat ah 00:34:13.06 nextlevelguypodcast is that what you're mentioning there that kind of that that's your biggest fear is the old caleb come back how how do you keep that fight between the two 00:34:19.67 Caleb wat Yeah! 00:34:23.29 Caleb wat Because I'm I'm I'm Wow. i'm scared of what would happen if he does like i respect what you know that version of me i respect it But I want nothing to do with it. 00:34:34.37 Caleb wat You know in and then in that particular video I was talking about my aggression and my anger um I grew up a very, very violent person, man. So I try my best and I remind myself every single day that that was used in a time of my life and now I'm not in that season anymore. so 00:34:53.18 Caleb wat yeah i catch myself a lot taking in what someone says and you know i'm on the internet now there's people that are just just mean for no reason because they hate themselves or whatever else and for me it's very simple it's like we'll fight them Well, brother, I'll be fighting every day. 00:35:08.03 Caleb wat and And so I've got to remind myself that that's really not the fight that I'm in right now. The fight that I'm in is is trying to get people that want to be helped, want to be like want to change, want to improve. 00:35:19.04 Caleb wat My fight is helping them fight. i don't I don't need to be in this anymore. I don't need to keep doing that. The clock's ticking, man. Whether whether people want to admit it or not. when you do go through cancer and and all this stuff, the window gets smaller and smaller and smaller. 00:35:33.48 Caleb wat you know and you start to really focus on the things that you need to focus on and And one of the key things that's going to... help you or hinder you is going to be the people you keep around. 00:35:44.89 Caleb wat If you're hanging out with the same people that made you a person that you that they were okay with the person you didn't like They were okay with you being that version of yourself. They enjoyed the company of 00:35:58.23 Caleb wat you you don't You don't need to be around them. that they they don't They don't want you to be what you're going for. So you need to start eliminating that. You know, if if I hung out around a bunch of just... 00:36:09.49 Caleb wat angry violent people I would still be a very angry and violent a person. 00:36:16.05 nextlevelguypodcast Because that's the thing, isn't it? They say you're the average of the five people you hang around with most. and I think that's... Something I particularly struggle with. It's like... 00:36:27.38 nextlevelguypodcast I will keep myself... sick and unhealthy because I want to fit in. And it took me years to step out of that. 00:36:33.27 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:36:34.88 nextlevelguypodcast And I still get, like you're saying, that old version of me that pops up and says, come on, let's self-sabotage. Come on, let's avoid the light. you know Let's avoid... 00:36:42.11 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:36:42.06 nextlevelguypodcast putting yourself out there. What do you do when it does pop up? you know is that mantra work for you do you have a habit of right let's go for a run let's do x let's spend time with my family you know how how do you When it does come all knocking, how do you step back and go? No. 00:37:00.54 nextlevelguypodcast I'm continuing who I am. 00:37:03.54 Caleb wat I would say with with who you want to be as long as you have more respect for for how far you've you've gone. then... and necessarily fear of where you come from. you're you're subconsciously going to know and you're going to make mistakes. It's about how quickly can you recognize the mistake. 00:37:19.73 Caleb wat You know, there's... There's times that I've completely lost my mind on people. um But I know I didn't physically harm them. So that's a step in the right direction. I recognize that but also when I'm journaling I write down what happened I write down what could have happened how I should have reacted to it and then maybe something that is giving me some sort of credit for not ending up in jail. Right. Like, you know, yeah, no, I overreacted. I probably shouldn't have said those things. But, you know, thank God I didn't lay my hands on him. 00:37:49.10 Caleb wat And then at that point... you know um People have a real... hard time talking about faith and and things like that, which is crazy. There's more arguments about faith, but hey. 00:37:59.70 Caleb wat If it works, it works. And I'd be lying to you if I said that my faith wasn't... the biggest reason. as to why I'm able to take a tactical pause. and um and reflect you know you have to sit in the silence long enough to understand it 00:38:15.63 nextlevelguypodcast And that's terrifying for a lot of people. it's just sit there 00:38:18.25 Caleb wat terrifying and it is terrifying it's super terrifying because the deal is is that if somebody come up to you you know and say you're in great shape right somebody come up to me and was like well you're fat i wouldn't take that seriously because i know that i'm not fat When I was an alcoholic, if somebody had come up to me and was like, you're an alcoholic. 00:38:35.21 Caleb wat i would that would stop me like no i would have to defend myself of that because i know that it's true Right. So. when When you have to face those things. 00:38:46.07 Caleb wat Those those voices get louder and louder and they're only bothering you because you know deep down that there's truth to it 00:38:54.46 Caleb wat That doesn't make you a terrible person. You can change that and I got news for you man when I've changed I've had so many people Reach out to my Instagram. It's like oh, yeah, dude. You fought me and my buddy in a bar I'm like, yeah, dude. I'm i'm sorry, man. I didn't A different time of my life. I've had so many. 00:39:11.26 Caleb wat um encounters of that on the internet and i'm not worried about it i've had people threaten to um post videos they had of me fighting you know bouncers and i was in germany i fought a couple cops and they like filmed the whole thing and i said post it i'm not scared of that person man That's not who I am. I mean it's who I was but at my core was still good man. I just made a lot of mistakes 00:39:33.25 Caleb wat I've already met those things. I've already faced those things. I'm fully aware of how bad Caleb has sucked in his life. I'm fully aware of it. It's cool. But I'm not offended at it anymore because I'm i'm not that. 00:39:45.73 Caleb wat I think we we end up wearing that cloak a little too long. You know the bad things you've done how you react to things that like you wear that like you you that has to be you all The time and it's not you've made the changes you're avidly working on it. That's not you 00:40:02.63 nextlevelguypodcast cause 00:40:02.70 Caleb wat So the more you do it, the less offended you are. 00:40:06.15 nextlevelguypodcast You probably get a lot of guys nodding their head just now going, yeah, I really regret I did this or. I i was like this or that when I was younger. But... how How? Do you work with somebody to do a tactical reset, like you said? you know How do we get them to come to terms with, yes, you did some bad stuff, but it's not... You. 00:40:25.03 nextlevelguypodcast It's what you did. you know and it's not your identity you can change how have you worked this to do this with clients because you seem to have that knack of going into that zone and being with them. 00:40:39.37 nextlevelguypodcast how How do you work with somebody to... find their peace with their self. 00:40:45.71 Caleb wat You know the difference between going to a therapist and then speaking to someone that's lived like a life that he's not necessarily proud of is is that um you go to a therapist because of the knowledge that they have from a book. 00:40:57.82 Caleb wat You know when someone's been through a lot of things they get the opportunity to acquire an exceptional amount of wisdom And you can't go to college for that. So. all these All this heartache, all these things you've been through in your life, all this crap that's happened to you or or from you, whichever it is. 00:41:14.35 Caleb wat What is an opportunity to gain wisdom from it? Because now you know more. 00:41:18.77 nextlevelguypodcast Hmm. 00:41:18.93 Caleb wat It's no different than educating yourself on a sickness when you get the sickness again like you're you know more It's not it's not the the evil you don't know. You know it. Now you can fight it a little bit better like you know it so It's very easy for people to make those changes when they join my program and stuff because my Zoom calls have... Nothing to do with fitness. 00:41:41.47 Caleb wat It has nothing to do with fitness. Dude, I tell stories and things that has happened and and what I did to get myself out of it because that's the important part. okay You have the workouts in front of you. You have the diet in front of you. I've done all that for you. 00:41:55.04 Caleb wat You don't need me to continue to you you have everything you're supposed to be doing to get physically in better shape Now I need you to relate to me and understand that I have been in these positions. this is what I did, this is what I'm doing. 00:42:08.55 Caleb wat And you have a checklist. It's just like anything else. When you journal, it's like, hey man, like what am I proud of today? What did I do wrong? Who do I owe amends to? like who who Who should I apologize to for a way that I acted? 00:42:21.30 Caleb wat Why did I act that way? When you start doing a ah ah checks and balance on yourself of who you are and how you interact with people. Man, and you have it on paper? 00:42:32.44 Caleb wat And you start to really look like, wow, dude, if someone else was reading this. they'd be like There's something wrong with this dude You know, there's something. why Why would you do that? But eventually it starts to look a little less aggressive. You know, it's your own personal diary But it's ah it's checks and balances. 00:42:50.14 nextlevelguypodcast Another great answer. Because... I think a lot of men use drink drugs. You know, sex. 00:42:56.28 Caleb wat Yeah, it's easy. 00:42:56.81 nextlevelguypodcast all that to hide from Cause. You said yourself on one of your Instagram posts about how... It was a chance to relearn yourself once you stopped drinking. 00:43:05.55 Caleb wat Hmm? 00:43:05.48 nextlevelguypodcast Like sobriety was one of the best things you did. 00:43:06.43 Caleb wat Oh yeah. 00:43:07.100 nextlevelguypodcast How? 00:43:08.30 Caleb wat It was yeah. but 00:43:09.79 nextlevelguypodcast How does a man learn himself? when we've spent so long trying to fit in. 00:43:16.46 Caleb wat Dude, well you that's the deal though. It's like everybody's worried about you know, the ship taking off Right. So they don't want to they want to miss the boat. Check. Most of us have just been standing in the wrong line the entire time. 00:43:30.01 Caleb wat Like that that's that's the whole idea. you know you're You're fitting in with a group of people that you obviously don't respect or like because you're having these internal battles with yourself. 00:43:41.82 Caleb wat If those people accept you, It's because you possess the qualities that you do not like. So... you're still gonna fit in. You're just gonna fit in with a different group. And that's okay. 00:43:54.09 Caleb wat yeah When I got sober, so many people stopped talking to me. oh it's that's what What are we going to do for fun? That's ridiculous. You're not the same Caleb. but You're right, dude. I'm not. And I also don't have the time or energy to nurture this relationship anymore because you aren't trying to grow. People are only going to have a problem with you being a better person if internally they are having it they are having an issue themselves being a better person. They're not ready for that change. 00:44:18.97 Caleb wat So they want to drag you down with them. I don't know about you, but if you could tell someone's intentions and it was to be like, hey, my goal is to make sure you don't make as much money. 00:44:30.19 Caleb wat My goal is to make sure that you skip the gym and you don't you don't get in that peak shape because I'm not You know, my goal is that we go eat fried chicken wings because that's what we do on Friday And I don't want you to bring Tupperware, dude. That's weird. 00:44:43.81 Caleb wat Right, so... Okay, so now it's not it's not about being around me. 00:44:50.16 Caleb wat Because I can still be around you and do all then just change the things that I'm doing while I'm there But that's not good enough. So that relationship isn't something you want And that's simple. 00:45:02.04 Caleb wat Textbook man, if you change if you just change the the small things to make you better and you're on the same group and all of a sudden they don't appreciate your company, of you being there. 00:45:12.75 Caleb wat You are standing in the wrong line. That is not your boat to get on, dude. You need to go fit in somewhere else because there's a whole world out there full of people that are trying to be better men. 00:45:22.61 nextlevelguypodcast And does that tie into then the idea of seasons in our lives? I grew up with people where I thought... This is it. This is you know But I would sit in the pub thinking... why am i here i don't like this i don't like the feeling of being drunk i don't like sitting listening to the same songs and doing the same thing week in week out But I didn't know how to change that. 00:45:44.42 nextlevelguypodcast But... Do we need to understand that there are people who will come into your life? as learnings you know their missions there's people that come in and change it how did you find that transition when you started working out to finding your real tribe your real people your real family. 00:46:02.51 Caleb wat Jack created I created a group that I needed is what I did. And I figured that I had enough to say that. eventually the right people would hear it. and they would resonate with it. 00:46:13.92 Caleb wat and I would have support. Now that comes with a lot of hate. Comes with a lot of hate. 00:46:20.86 Caleb wat But again. 00:46:22.95 Caleb wat that's not That's not my line to stand in. I don't have to be liked by everybody. Quite frankly, I don't give a shit who I'm liked by. It doesn't bother me. you know 99 of the people if they were to see me in person they would have absolutely nothing to say to me Nothing at all. 00:46:39.17 Caleb wat So why why spend the time worried about that? We're worried about the opinions of lesser people when you're trying to be better. That's craziness man, don't do that. You're limiting what you're capable of doing because of someone else's response on you doing it. 00:46:53.94 Caleb wat They don't like the way you said something? Dude, it probably it probably hit them a little bit. It was probably calling the fat guy fat, right? He knows that he has a problem. 00:46:59.88 nextlevelguypodcast Yeah. 00:47:01.49 Caleb wat So good. Good. There's there's gonna be people in the same token though that come to you and they're like I am depressed dude I am a drunk I'm a piece of shit. And and i'm I'm ready to... 00:47:14.52 Caleb wat find someone I can relate to. And they do that through social media. These some of these people that meet me in public or something. It's like dude. I feel like I've known you forever my awesome Now let me get to know you, right? That's fair. 00:47:28.38 Caleb wat So... it's It's as simple as making the repetitive change. Make that change, do it enough, and you people will get rid of themselves. 00:47:39.64 Caleb wat But at some point you're going to feel the effects of what you're doing you're you're going to feel better man your your your mentality everything's to made clear you're going to be like okay i don't like this now I don't really like this now. 00:47:51.76 Caleb wat I'm gonna educate myself on this thing. It's a domino effect. So it's not it's not a... It's not a um Like ah a one answer does multiple things or these it's multiple different chapters that are explaining X, Y, and Z. you You figure out so much of it just by making one change that's positive. 00:48:12.31 Caleb wat Because that's addictive. when When you can make one change that benefits you in your life and you notice the benefit because you feel better. You want to do more positive things. 00:48:22.92 Caleb wat And you know, the same way with negative, if you like. talking shit about people behind their back, you're probably around a bunch of people that do that. and then that comes into when now you guys are drinking talking shit and it's like the thing So now you're having multiple negative things that are happening in your life. It's no different. 00:48:41.62 Caleb wat you're You're not going to find a whole bunch of raging alcoholics that, you know. You'll find some, not a whole lot, but you won't find a bunch of those people at ah a run club. You won't find a bunch of those people at a... a gym at five o 'clock in the morning. 00:48:55.20 Caleb wat You just won't. So right there you just eliminated you know, 60, 70%. of the group that you're worried about. just by doing things that most people aren't comfortable doing, waking up early and doing and moving. 00:49:10.01 nextlevelguypodcast What was it they say? It's like when you feel depressed just make sure you know are you really depressed or are you just surrounded by arseholes You know, it's like. 00:49:17.62 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:49:18.33 nextlevelguypodcast Take yourself out. 00:49:19.16 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:49:18.86 nextlevelguypodcast The environment is making you sick. ah do you ever struggle then when you look back and think i wasted this time or is are these the experiences that you think is great i can use these to then help other people 00:49:27.90 Caleb wat Tune. I didn't waste nothing. 00:49:32.61 Caleb wat Well, I didn't waste nothing man Wisdom takes time. I mean, you don't go to school to be a doctor and become a doctor in a couple months, right? So no, man, I had to do a lot of bad things a lot of times to gain the wisdom and understand that they were bad. 00:49:53.50 nextlevelguypodcast I think. 00:49:53.55 Caleb wat i didn't waste I didn't waste any time. 00:49:55.98 nextlevelguypodcast That's how I see this podcast is I needed to go through all that crap. to then figure out a way to try and help other people. not good to do that. 00:50:02.55 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:50:03.10 nextlevelguypodcast I know it makes sense to me, but at the time. By fuck, it was a tough one. 00:50:08.20 Caleb wat Yeah, it's it's hard it's hard to try and help people when you feel like you have some detrimental problem. 00:50:16.05 Caleb wat You know, like who am I to tell somebody? ah to not be depressed when when sometimes I'm still depressed. That's why I don't tell them not to be depressed. I tell them that I still struggle with being depressed every time You know? 00:50:32.05 Caleb wat No. 00:50:31.95 nextlevelguypodcast Is this where your younger self would call it a weakness, but your current self calls it wisdom? 00:50:40.07 Caleb wat I think, yeah. I think when I was... When I was young and and dealing with with a lot, I mean, i my my childhood was definitely not normal. I had a lot of things going on. and um So like my nervous system recognized. 00:50:53.79 Caleb wat chaos is kind of like normalcy. And and when that happens. uh when anything is good goes into your life you you almost just want to run from it because it brings you more anxiety than than the bad right at least 00:51:06.68 nextlevelguypodcast Yeah. 00:51:07.56 Caleb wat I know that I can solve this this way. So. I also didn't really want to be a burden with anybody. Um, 00:51:17.47 Caleb wat Everybody has their problems. you know so i never i never wanted to burden anybody with mine i just always took it like i can i get it i figure it out you know um I realize now that that was dumb and and selfish, really. 00:51:29.59 Caleb wat It was extremely selfish because I didn't give the opportunity to a lot of people to help. You know? um So yeah, I would say it was a weakness at at some point. 00:51:36.61 nextlevelguypodcast No. 00:51:39.68 Caleb wat um 00:51:41.05 nextlevelguypodcast But I think you've got to realise at times that you're not a burden. 00:51:41.75 Caleb wat I think I'll... A lot lot of it. 00:51:44.54 nextlevelguypodcast that you're a lovely guy who's done some bad things, but you're... changing so many lives that and you you're finding yourself because you said Something about, where is it? about chemotherapy helped you survive. 00:51:58.57 nextlevelguypodcast but Mexico helped you live. 00:51:59.29 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:52:00.78 nextlevelguypodcast And I think sometimes you don't give yourself the the due diligence, the the the acceptance of, yes, you can help so many people, but you're also a great guy. 00:52:01.59 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:52:09.82 nextlevelguypodcast You know, you need to. Be happy with yourself. you know It's not just enough to help other people. 00:52:13.75 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:52:15.66 nextlevelguypodcast You've sometimes got to stop and say, Yeah, I have turned out alright. 00:52:21.60 Caleb wat Well, so when when you give yourself To the right people, you have an infinite amount. When you're filling the right people's cups, you have an infinite amount. When you're filling the wrong people's cups. you run out very quickly. 00:52:36.15 Caleb wat when you're When you're servicing people and and you're you're around, say, the right group. It may. It doesn't feel like you're giving as much as you are because you're receiving so much. 00:52:48.93 Caleb wat When you trap yourself in a box and you're just giving, giving, giving, that's why men get so burnt out. That's why we, you know, that's why the suicide rate is so high. It's because it's like, I've done everything I can and I'm tired. Like I'm, I'm worn out, dude. I'm exhausted. Well, it's because you weren't getting anything back. 00:53:05.70 Caleb wat You're you're giving Truly everything you had and you didn't get anything back So when I say that about chemotherapy and about Mexico, what I what i really mean is is is the chemotherapy killed me enough to want to be alive. 00:53:21.60 Caleb wat And then Mexico showed me why I was supposed to be alive. had nothing to do with treatment. 00:53:27.31 nextlevelguypodcast Hmm. 00:53:28.67 Caleb wat nothing to do with treatment because at the end of the day whether people want to admit or not um Your trauma. your sadness your depression your heartache all these things that you hold on to is is is going to be the the the main contributor to your death. 00:53:44.55 Caleb wat if you don't get a hold of it. 00:53:47.30 nextlevelguypodcast i think you're probably woke up a lot of men listening. because that is something that we all carry around like a badge of honor you know we're meant to be strong tough silent 00:53:56.45 Caleb wat Mm hmm. Super strong. Dude, you know what's strong is recognizing you got a problem and fixing the problem. That's strong being able to suffer for longer who gives a shit dude this competition to whose life was worse That's a dumbest trophy to carry around It's stupid. I mean, 00:54:15.97 Caleb wat You think about it. when When you almost brag about how how much you've been through. What are you showing the younger people around you? 00:54:28.79 Caleb wat Bye. you're not showing them how you got through it you're just talking about that you got through it you're not showing them any way to pass the test You're just showing them that it's a never ending, long, miserable test. 00:54:40.61 Caleb wat If you haven't made any internal changes, I don't i just don't know how. how you're going to be productive to society or the people you encounter. You know, but but on the other side of it, the people that don't talk about their problems are are almost doing a worse service to people because now they're given this false idea that's like, man. 00:54:59.11 Caleb wat You know, luck, luck. Just know, dude, luck is where preparation meets opportunity. If you're not prepared for it, physically, mentally, spiritually, then it doesn't matter how many opportunities show up. You will not be ready for them. 00:55:15.03 Caleb wat Ciao. 00:55:14.95 nextlevelguypodcast So... was 00:55:16.26 Caleb wat Prepare. 00:55:17.05 nextlevelguypodcast Is that our rite of passage now? Because you know before we'd have had a great war, we'd have had... you know like uh go out and hunt to like ah an animal and take it back to the tribe and these sort things 00:55:27.07 Caleb wat Yeah! that's 00:55:28.55 nextlevelguypodcast Is this our modern day? 00:55:29.08 Caleb wat Yeah. 00:55:30.84 nextlevelguypodcast write a passage to be open and honest and help the next generation of men. overcome and figure out themselves better. because you know be the father figure that they maybe don't have 00:55:43.31 Caleb wat i I think that that's always been what it is. That was always when you taught the young man how to hunt and gather and and to respect the women and to open the doors later on and to buy the flowers and to to do all these things. 00:55:58.60 Caleb wat that those are Those are simple, simple things. you know But if you're doing all those things while just consuming all this negativity. the negativity is going to outweigh whatever good deed you you're trying to do that's convenient. 00:56:12.77 Caleb wat You know, the point is that we are all vessels. That's what's supposed to happen. You know, you're supposed to stick the hand out, and if nobody decides to grab it, that's okay. 00:56:23.07 Caleb wat but it doesn't mean you pull the hand back. yeah youre Everybody in the world is gonna touch the stove. Everybody is warned not to touch the stove. It's gonna be hot. 00:56:33.59 Caleb wat Everybody's going to touch it. Your job as a man is to... Provide first aid to those wounds the fastest you're supposed to help with those wounds the fastest that's what That's what you're supposed to do. That's what you're supposed to do as a parent. That's what you're supposed to do as a friend, as a brother, a son. It doesn't matter. 00:56:50.34 Caleb wat That's what you're supposed to do. 00:56:53.05 nextlevelguypodcast Um... how did becoming a father change that in you you know was there something that you kind of just realized about yourself or was it kind of did this exemplify and amplify 00:57:01.44 Caleb wat Let's do this. 00:57:05.55 nextlevelguypodcast use a person. Bye. getting into that zone you know becoming a stepfather or father just you kind of realized Fuck, this is my real mission now. 00:57:09.24 Caleb wat Hmm. 00:57:15.66 Caleb wat Um... Yeah, so so when when my son was born, that was kind of bittersweet. ah Because... The one person I wanted to be there, I didn't have any respect for, so I couldn't share that moment you know with my father. 00:57:31.05 Caleb wat I wasn't able to do that um because the hatred and resentment that I had for him. I would say that when I started watching my son you know grow up and ah And have certain qualities and traits about me naturally. I got I got really worried You know. um because although it's cute when they're little i know that i was probably cute when i was little and then i turned into something that i didn't i didn't i wasn't particularly proud of so 00:58:01.10 Caleb wat For me, it was more so. How do I... How do I nip this in the butt now? So alcohol that's That's one that I know that he'll struggle with if he if he lets it into his life. 00:58:13.90 Caleb wat He may let it into his life, but it won't be because I think it's cool to have a beer with dad. i won't I won't be contributing to that. When he was three he used to get me beer out of the fridge, and I would be like high-fiving him and stuff You know it was it was so cool, and now I look back at how disgusting that it is you know Like you're just surrounding your kid with with with your own toxic bullshit, and that is not fair. So um that was a big, big reason to start. 00:58:41.78 Caleb wat changing. um But I still don't think it was the main reason. I think the main reason is at some point you got to decide if you want better. um and And you got to. 00:58:52.53 Caleb wat Tell yourself that you deserve better. Like give yourself permission to be happy. ah because those things are all required for it to actually happen. 00:59:03.10 nextlevelguypodcast So if somebody does come to you then with that. yeah i want better i need better i need to be better for a myself for my kids etc Is there a 7D plan or ah a... way to start for somebody you know he's got low energy who doesn't believe in themselves that You know, what what do they do tomorrow that counts us as a success? 00:59:24.43 nextlevelguypodcast Because a lot of people go, oh, I can't stop drinking. Oh, I can't do this. You know, like they immediately fight back. But what are these little kind of... things we can do. to make a difference to start this journey. 00:59:35.93 nextlevelguypodcast And what do we do if we do fuck up? 00:59:39.40 Caleb wat What I would tell somebody to do immediately. before they make any of these. life-altering things is I would tell them to write down the top five things that's ever happened to them that changed them as a person in a negative way So I would say you call one the umbrella, right? 00:59:58.68 Caleb wat This is the pinnacle of misery I've been in. This is what happened. This is who did it to me. um this is This is my main thing. And then I would have those other things listed on this umbrella. 01:00:11.17 Caleb wat And then... Over a few days I would remove that umbrella and have a conversation with the other events. If this main thing never happened. How would this impact my life? 01:00:23.75 Caleb wat If this main thing didn't happen, how would this one impact my life? and I would separate them Because... when you look at trauma you can't take it all out at once right it's it's kind of like rolling credit It's like ah like a debt. 01:00:36.46 Caleb wat You know, you make the minimum payments on each thing and you service them just enough to where the tax man doesn't come for you. Or... You snowball effect it and you find the one that maybe you thought was really big But when you remove that umbrella, it wasn't that bad and we can we can make amends with this one And then you take that same energy and effort and you put into the next thing. So I would say day one through four. 01:00:59.67 Caleb wat is maybe focusing on writing that. Have enough discipline to write it down. tell tell yourself a little bit of the story and and have your checks and balances. When you see things on paper and not not typing them on a computer and not putting them in your notes When you write them on a piece of paper? 01:01:15.21 Caleb wat When they do, I would tell them after it's done. to wait a day and then flip that page over. and see which one was imprinted the deepest Because the cool thing about writing your emotions on a page is that you have a connection from your brain that is a lot different than anything else. and those important things that hurt you. tremendously. 01:01:37.85 Caleb wat are are... Written very deeply your hand is heavier because of the the anger that's involved in that and then I would I would focus on separating them Once that happens you show me that you got enough discipline to do that you're you're You're ready to face some of them. And then we ignore it. 01:01:55.31 Caleb wat okay we we just set it off to the side we can revisit it later but now we've got an idea of kind of what what you feel is hindering you. Now we implement easy things, right? 01:02:07.14 Caleb wat You're going to drink a gallon of water today and change nothing else. Tomorrow we may add in. 50 pushups for the entire day. Right, if you're truly that far off and you just have, you just. 01:02:20.98 Caleb wat Can't start then once you drink that gallon of water a day that page is gonna turn into what did I accomplish today? What was my what was I supposed to drink a gallon of water a day? I was supposed to walk 5 ,000 steps and I was supposed to compliment a stranger Cool dude, I knocked out all three of them So now... 01:02:39.25 Caleb wat I'm winning. I'm up. right The debts are being paid. to this right here and then we add a few more things And then at some point, another do these people are in the gym. and they're they're moving and they quit drinking and um and all these things become a lot easier because you just showed yourself that you can accomplish something that's expected of you. 01:02:58.78 Caleb wat So now these things that are expected of yourself are no different. they're just a little bit deeper so the physical body comes and then we visit the other things It's like, all right, dude. You got it. You know that you have you have the strength if you've got the durability You've got the discipline you got all these things now It's time to now it's time to start visiting some of these deeper rooted issues 01:03:18.84 nextlevelguypodcast I love that. Fucking love that. because That is... you'll have everybody nodding along as they're listening to that It's... i can see why you're being so successful with your clients etc but What? 01:03:33.51 nextlevelguypodcast What would you say to somebody who wants to work with you? you know what How can they be like, when they get in touch with you, how can they be the type of client that's ready? to get the most from you. 01:03:46.21 Caleb wat um So, you know, it's kind of funny. I'm... Pretty particular in who I work with in general. And that's based on a conversation. So um I would say that if you're ready to make that step in that direction. 01:04:00.34 Caleb wat then we need to get on a call. And I'm going to ask you some very simple questions. and ah It's more going to be about what what is your... What's your main issue? like what what is What is staying how you are hindering in your life? And why do you feel so passionate about changing that? 01:04:18.92 Caleb wat From there... You can tell a lot of people their intention based off of this, right? So if I look at you and you're not you really engage with it or or there's no emotions there's nothing that's happening chances are you're you're not really convinced that you have this problem that you have yet. 01:04:36.57 Caleb wat You're not convinced yet. And I've had a lot of people get off of a call and come back months later ready to to start. you know 01:04:41.78 nextlevelguypodcast when they've got the wisdom. 01:04:42.24 Caleb wat So. 01:04:42.96 nextlevelguypodcast Yeah. 01:04:43.54 Caleb wat Yeah, yeah, when when when when when it's been shown up enough, when they they do a... Because ah man, god God will put it in front of you. If it's on your heart, God will make sure that it's present. 01:04:54.68 Caleb wat And you'll see it. You'll continue to see it. and then it'll be from different you're scrolling doom scrolling on instagram all of a sudden your algorithm changes to self-improvement and you're like oh i relate to like so much of this stuff. 01:05:08.08 Caleb wat you know so And I'm not saying that I can fix everybody's problem. I'm just saying that if you show up ready to improve. You will. 01:05:18.22 Caleb wat Without a doubt you will. 01:05:20.37 nextlevelguypodcast because i know we said an hour and i've got so many more things to go into so we've got to do a round two because you're just such an easy person to speak to i'm so bloody inspiring but What would you want people to remember from this? you know what Even if if they're sitting there going, yeah, I know I've got a bit of a problem, but it's not is it that bad? 01:05:40.11 nextlevelguypodcast What would you want them to take from this, even if it's just that one thing they do that would actually start their journey? to relearning themselves like you did. 01:05:50.15 Caleb wat Oh, I would say 100 % if you have to question yourself if it's that bad, it is. if If you have to ask yourself if it's that bad. It is in fact that bad and possibly worse. 01:06:04.19 Caleb wat It is that bad. and And here's the deal too. I'm not saying people can't casually drink. I'm not saying that. What I'm saying is is that you have to ask yourself that question. You can't. And that's okay. 01:06:16.68 Caleb wat That there's nothing wrong with that. it doesn't make you weak it doesn't as you're not less of a man because you're not able to hey i know I know I can handle my alcohol. I've been doing it for a long time. I know that I could probably physically have one drink and be fine. But the question is, Why? 01:06:34.36 Caleb wat What would it do for me? We do nothing, right? So. If you have to ask yourself if it's that bad, it is 100 % that bad. and And the check engine lights on and the fact that you have that. thought in your brain is the check engine light and if you ignore it you're going to realize exactly how bad it is 01:06:52.26 nextlevelguypodcast Love it. 01:06:53.02 Caleb wat And that goes for any vice you have. Anything. Doesn't matter what it is. 01:06:58.05 nextlevelguypodcast And what would you want people to do to help you on your journey? you know Is it just coming on your website, following you on Instagram? Are we expecting like TED Talks and books and courses and, you know, how can we follow this journey you're on? 01:07:13.71 Caleb wat Yeah, so um man social media and and honestly the the thing that helps me the most is if if you see something that is Inspiring you and helps you and you know said, you know somebody that can help Send a video to him. 01:07:26.09 Caleb wat um You know, there's so many people that can make tremendous progress in their life without getting on a program you know some people are just consumers and i respect and appreciate them all the same So. For me... 01:07:40.32 Caleb wat Supporting me isn't financial at all. not even in the slightest. It's... you may get out of your comfort zone a little bit and send me a message or you may comment something on on a post and That was a vulnerable thing for you, and then you realize you get a message from me you know and they're like oh shit i didn't think you would it's like well you thought wrong i do have time So. um Just if it's if it's worth it to you, it'll be worth it to somebody else and make sure that person gets it 01:08:11.97 nextlevelguypodcast sorry Well, I'll hit 01:08:13.13 Caleb wat Even if.
