Before We Record

Thanks again for joining me on The Next Level Guy Podcast.

This isn’t a heavily scripted show. The best episodes feel like a real conversation — thoughtful, honest, and practical.
The notes below are just here to make things easy and help us get the most out of our time together.

Nothing here is compulsory.

What to expect

The conversation is relaxed and led by curiosity rather than a rigid structure.
We’ll follow what’s interesting, relevant, and real in the moment.

There’s no “podcast voice” required, and no pressure to perform. Stories land better than polished answers.

My aim is always to leave listeners with something they can actually use — not inspiration without application.

Before we record

If you’re happy to, feel free to send over:

  • a short bio (or I can introduce you informally if you prefer)

  • any links you’d like included in the show notes

  • topics you’d especially like to explore — or avoid

  • I sometimes use AI tools (like ChatGPT) to help summarize and organize research notes, which may include reviewing unpublished material. This is for private preparation only. I don’t publish, distribute, or share raw content with third parties. If you’d prefer I don’t use AI with your work, just let me know.

This just helps me tailor the conversation to you.

Tech basics

Nothing fancy required:

  • a laptop or computer works best

  • Google Chrome is ideal

  • headphones help avoid echo

  • a quiet space if possible

If something goes wrong, we’ll deal with it — no stress.

During the conversation

A few things that tend to make episodes work well:

Be yourself
Speak normally. Think out loud if you need to. Swearing is fine, and mentioning products or work naturally is no problem.

Stories over soundbites
Real examples usually land harder than general advice.

Practical where it fits
We’ll often explore how something could be applied, not just what you did.

Take your time
Pauses are fine. We can always edit for flow.

Comfort matters
Feel free to grab a drink, adjust things, or take a quick break if needed.

There’ll be space at the end to talk about your work or anything you’d like people to know about.

I can edit anything out, so just let me know if you want something removed and its done.

Topics we often explore

We might touch on things like:

  • what shaped you early on

  • moments that changed how you think or work

  • lessons learned the hard way

  • habits, systems, or principles you rely on

  • mistakes you’d avoid if starting again

Nothing is forced, and nothing is off-limits.

After we record

  • The episode is edited and produced (usually within 1–2 weeks)

  • You’ll get a heads-up before it goes live

  • I’ll send over links and assets if you’d like to share it

If there’s anything you later decide you’d like removed or adjusted, just let me know — I’m happy to edit accordingly.

Sharing is always appreciated, but never expected.

If you have any questions beforehand, just drop me a message.

Looking forward to the conversation,
Ian
