Mark is a big wave surfer and an motivational speaker.

Mark has made a living achieving the near impossible: crossing the intersection of danger and excitement. He knows all too well the crippling grasp of fear.

While in Tasmania, fifteen feet in front of a cliff in cold, shark infested waters, Mark hit a reef and instantly blacked out. Terror engulfed every inch of his being. Neck braced and hospital-ridden, he didn’t know if he could ever surf again. At that moment, Mark made a decision never to allow fear to overpower him again.

He has deconstructed, fine-tuned, and personalized emotion and resilience techniques to successfully strengthen one’s mindset and sustain long term performance.

These techniques have helped him win an unprecedented three consecutive Oakley Big Wave Awards and cement him as one of the best big waves surfers in the world.

Delegate jobs and training needs as you require – there are amazing support methods about, use them. Find the support team you need in your life to assist, train, prep and support you with.
  • You will not raise to the challenge usually but you will fall to the highest level of your training, so train efficiently and effectively for your challenge. Repetition of movement patterns and work on skill development will help you keep safe and achieve your goals.
  • You need to train the toughest parts, the scariest part. Look at what your sport or challenge involves and which parts scare you. Write them down, that is now your focus, get to work on training for them until they barely bother you as you know you have the skills and competency to complete what is needed.
  • You need to find the impact zone in your life, and risk failure, and chase the waves that you can ride to success.
  • Change your physical posture to a more confident stance, to switch from a negative and critical thought pattern to a confident outlook instead.
  • There is a difference of doing something that you want to and something that you are doing to impress others with. Do it for the right reasons and trust your gut, you know which is which.
  • There is always something good that you can take from a negative event, regardless of what happened. You only lose when you give up.
